Volodymyr Zelensky came to popularity as a stand-up comedian known for exposing the corruption of his country’s politicians. Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyy was born january 25, 1978, in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine, which was still part of the Soviet Union at the time. He was born to Jewish parents, making him a member of the region’s minority. He is also fluent in Russian.
Zelenskyy was educated in Kryvyy Rih. Later, he attended Kryvyi Rih Institute of Economics, which was formerly a department of Kyiv National Economic University and is now a part of Kryvyi Rih National University. He received his law degree from here, but he never worked in the legal area.
Zelenskyy, on the other hand, started a career in acting career, eventually becoming a comedian. He was a member of the comic troupe Kvartal 95 for many years. He has also appeared in a number of television episodes and feature films.
His most well-known part, however, was in ‘Servant of the People,’ a TV sitcom that aired from 2015 and 2019. Zelenskyy played a 30-year-old high school history teacher who won the presidential election after a viral video of him shouting against the Ukrainian government went viral. The show, which addressed corruption inside the Ukrainian government, was a major popularity with the country’s citizens.

Zelensky’s political rise occurred in the midst of a turbulent moment in Ukraine’s history. Russia annexed Crimea in 2014 and backed the separatist struggle in East Ukraine. The same year, then-President Viktor Yanukovych was deposed after large protests. Petro Poroshenko was elected President of Ukraine in 2014.
When Zelenskyy Become President
In 2019, he won the Presidency and convincingly defeated incumbent Poroshenko. Zelenskyy won by a landslide, receiving 73.2 percent of the vote. On May 20, 2019, he was sworn in as Ukraine’s sixth President.
The 44-year-old was elected president in 2019, but before that, in the same year, he played a fake President of Ukraine in a TV drama.

“We’re all here protecting our freedom, our nation, and it will remain that way,” Zelenskyy said in a video that has since gone popular on social media while standing outside the presidential building.
